Looking back at NFL’s first ever game in London
The NFL officially returns to London this weekend for the 16th year.
At least one NFL game has taken place in London from 2007-2023, except for 2020. Three games will occur in London this season, starting with the Falcons vs. Jaguars on Sunday. It will be the 34th game played in London.
The Giants hold a special place in the history between the NFL and the capital of England, as it was Big Blue that emerged victorious in the first ever London game.
On October 28, 2007, the Giants and Dolphins took the field at Wembley Stadium for the first game in the history of the NFL’s International Series. The Giants rushed for 189 yards and a touchdown, on a 10-yard run from quarterback Eli Manning, as they defeated the Dolphins, 13-10.
The win moved the Giants to 6-2 heading into their Week 9 bye. They went on to split their final eight games as they earned the fifth seed in the NFC. The Giants won three straight road games on their way to a showdown against the 18-0 New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII, and the rest is history.

The Giants have returned to London twice since the 2007 win, first in 2016 and then again last season. The games have taken place in some of London’s most famous stadiums, including Wembley, Twickenham and Tottenham.
Big Blue has won all three of its games in London, including last year’s Week 5 victory over Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers.
Quarterback Daniel Jones completed an impressive 77.8 percent of his passes for 217 yards and added an additional 37 yards on the ground, while running back Saquon Barkley totaled 107 scrimmage yards and a touchdown. Running back Gary Brightwell and tight end Daniel Bellinger each added a rushing touchdown as well.
