Jamal Adams Set To Return & Other Seahawks Injury Updates From Pete Carroll

The Seahawks earned a 37-27 victory over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, getting the job done with several key players taking part despite dealing with injuries during the week, including defensive lineman Jarran Reed, who had 1.5 sacks and eight tackles; receiver DK Metcalf, who had a team-high 112 receiving yards; and starting safeties Quandre Diggs and Julian Love, all of whom were listed as questionable for the game.

“The guys who were hurt all week long that couldn’t (practice) that were able to get to game day and answer the call, Diggs, Julian Love, DK, J-Reed, those guys didn’t get much work at all, and they just wouldn’t not play,” Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said. “They made it through their injuries and sucked it up and all had really solid games for us. It’s a great visual for our young guys to understand what it takes.”

But while those four were all able to finish the game and make big contributions, the Seahawks did see a trio of players leave due to injury: defensive end Dre’Mont Jones (hip), outside linebacker Darrell Taylor (leg) and cornerback Tre Brown (concussion).

On Jones, Carroll said, “His hip tightened up. We don’t know the extent of it, but his hip got tight.”

Taylor, meanwhile, “Got hit in the shin,” Carroll said. “He had an old injury there, and it just aggravated it enough we had to hold him out.”

With Brown leaving the game due to a concussion, Michael Jackson, a 17-game starter last season, took over at right cornerback and “did great,” Carroll said. “We’re lucky that we have that kind of depth.”

And the Seahawks are expecting to get deeper heading into their Week 4 game against the Giants, especially in the secondary. Jamal Adams, who has been out since tearing his quadriceps tendon in the 2022 season opener, will play next week, Carroll said, and cornerback Riq Woolen also has a good shot at returning after missing Sunday’s game with a chest injury. Carroll said left tackle Charles Cross, who has missed two games with a toe injury, also could be back.

“We’re going to get a bunch of guys back next week, it’s going to be really exciting to see these guys come back to us,” Carroll said. “Jamal will be playing, Tariq has a great chance to come back. Charles has a real chance next week, so we’ll see how that works out.”
